Introduction

With your help, your band has successfully established crucial elements such as a logo, merchandise, album and single covers. Focus now shifts towards the importance of stage presence. While actual music is undoubtedly significant, let's leave that for them to worry about; however, the visual aspect of a live performance cannot be overlooked and that, we can help with.

When attending a live music performance, we anticipate a multi-dimensional experience that goes beyond just the music. It is expected that the visual aspect of the show complements the music in a cohesive manner. In modern concerts, large screens displaying themed visuals for each song have become standard practice. These visuals can range from literal representation of lyrics to more abstract and metaphorical interpretations that align with the overall tone of music.

Ideas

My classmates and I have been given a brief of which the task is to create motion graphics to accompany one of our band's songs. The minimum length of which is 15 seconds, with a target length of 210 seconds (3.5 minutes) - which is a typical duration of a pop song. We were also given tips in order to make our work more interesting. Although looping is allowed, we were advised to avoid monotony, which means lack of variety and interest. Similarly to constant and tedious repetition or routine, which would make the visual work really boring and anticlimactic, and to avoid monotony by creating visually engaging content.

I plan on creating a lyric video to a song called "Go to Hell" by Clinton Kane. I believe that this song fits perfectly to the atmosphere of the band, as well as, the overall visual aesthetic of the band members and the albums. The songs talks about the feeling of hurt and betrayal after getting cheated on by your partner, as well as, the haltered, obsessive thoughts, and confusion that follows.

Initial ideas

Picsart

I decided to use an app called 'Picsart' - the app has similar features to photoshop, as well as, some basic features of any other photo editing app - but I personally find it way easier and fun to use.
Picture
Picsart has a lot of interesting stickers that allow the image to become more lively as it breaks the barrier of an image being in one solid piece and brings a lot of possibilities to elevate the image visually.

Here are some examples of the stickers I have used for this project, as well as, a few of the blend modes that Picsart offers which allow the stickers to interact with the original image in various ways.
To create this motion I have used the two pictures of Fraser holding the guitar and kept rotating the image slightly to create 'motion'. I have also been lowering the opacity slightly of each image to ensure that the primary image is visible. Finally, when the guitar seemed to hit the ground I have used two stickers that I have found under the word 'break' in the search bar, in order to create the illusion of the smashing guitar.

This part of the lyric video has been really exciting to create as it allowed me to experiment with a lot of stickers and blend modes. I have used a sticker of a burning page and lowered the opacity of it until 86% and then I have used the 'color burn' blend effect. I have also created a four letter word 'LOVE' in a style of Ranson Letter and have used that image as one of the lyrics for this image.
Those four images has been difficult to achieve due to limited pictures of Toby, Heather, and Fraser laying down surrounded by roses and their petals. I have edited the unedited images that I wanted to use in the Lightroom by bringing up the contrast, as well as, the hue and saturation a little bit.

Looking at the images I have created, I now realise that I have made a mistake with the last two images as I have not changed the image of Toby and Heather, which I have not noticed at the time.

The composition of the band members has been an idea I wanted to use in the last project when we were asked to make, the 3D album covers, however I decided to save it for this project as I knew I could improve on this idea. Despise the slight mistake that I have made, I believe that I have improved on this idea slightly. However, I knew I could push myself further and that was my next aim.
Creating those three images has been so much fun and really interesting as I tried to push myself further that I have ever done so in my history of using Picsart.

To create the first image I decided to further explore the initial album cover idea I have mentioned before, and in my opinion this attempt has turned out way better than the previous one. It is very similar to the way I had pictured it in my head. I love how each member has their own space and I'm really proud how the typography part of this image has turned out. I like the slight flames at the bottom of the word 'hell' as well as how the flames interact with the word itself, making it darker at the bottom which actually makes the word look like its been burned.

To create the second image I have experimented a lot with various stickers of fire and burnt paper. I really like the outcome as it gives dynamic to the overall image and aesthetic.

To create the third image I have combined images of each member trying to add diversity and visually interesting image. I have also used another fire sticker which I decided to overlay with the image to give the aesthetic similar of a burning house.

CapCut

To make the lyric video I have decided to use an app called CapCut. I really enjoy using this app because of various features that you can use even without having a membership in order to use more "advanced" features of the app.

To create the actual motion of the illusion of Fraser smashing and destroying an electric guitar I have used the images in a way that the animation would look smooth and consistent.
Through out the process of putting the lyric video together I have used various video effect in between takes in order to make the transition between images less harsh, instead however, more seamless such as; Colour Glitch, Glitch Intro, Halo Flash, Fade Out, White Out, among a few others.

Final outcome

I have created a 68.4 seconds (1:14 minutes) video of which I am really impressed by the outcome because usually my video editing aesthetic within' the CapCut is very different compared to the one I have created for this project. This project has really challenged me and I have approached it to the best of my abilities. I have pushed myself out of my comfort zone when it comes to photo editing and editing techniques.

Additional Note: I have checked the app shortly after a new update has been installed and I just found a new video effect called 'Tear up Paper' which, as the name suggest, gives an effect of the paper being torn and I am slightly upset that this effect wasn't available when I was making the lyric video as it would fit really well into the overall aesthetic of the video considering that I have used burning and torn up paper stickers.
